What Is Invisalign?
For those looking to start orthodontic treatment, but are hesitant about wearing more noticeable appliances, Invisalign is a great option! Our office is proud to be a provider of Invisalign clear aligners, which give you a clear, comfortable, and convenient way to achieve your dream smile.
Invisalign treatment consists of a series of custom-made aligning trays that are made from Invisalign’s proprietary SmartTrack material. The trays are designed from digital scans we take of your teeth here in our office, so they perfectly fit the shape of your teeth and are comfortable to wear. Invisalign aligners are also easily removable, allowing you to brush, floss, eat, and drink as you normally would.
For optimal results, you will need to wear your aligners as often as possible, preferably between 20-22 hours per day. We recommend only removing them to eat, brush, floss, and drink any liquids other than water.
The Invisalign Treatment Process
Your Initial Consultation
The first step in the Invisalign process is meeting with Dr. Sol and his team for a free initial consultation. Thanks to advances in orthodontic technology, Invisalign is a far more hassle-free process than orthodontic treatment used to be. At your initial consultation, we will discuss your treatment goals and evaluate your smile to determine whether Invisalign is right for you.
Your Customized Treatment Plan
A big part of answering “what is Invisalign” involves knowing how the treatment plan works. Like other orthodontic treatments, Dr. Sol customizes your Invisalign plan to your specific case. We will use our iTero digital scanner to accurately create fast, precise digital 3D images of your teeth.
Using these digital images, Dr. Sol and his team can draft a carefully targeted treatment plan that can predict your total treatment time and how your new smile will look once treatment is completed.
Your Progress Throughout Treatment
How long it takes for Invisalign can vary for each patient and depends on the severity of their dental issues, how their mouth responds, and how consistent they are with their aligners. Although Invisalign typically requires fewer visits to our office than braces, you will still need to come by our office for checkups every six weeks or so. By visiting our office, we can determine how well treatment is progressing and if any adjustments need to be made.
Every two weeks, you will progress into a new set of aligners, keeping consistent, gentle pressure on your teeth to continuously guide them into the correct position.
Why Invisalign Treatment?
- Rapid Results: With proper oral health maintenance and consistency in wearing your aligners, Invisalign can help you achieve the smile you want even faster. The typical time frame for Invisalign is usually between 12-18 months.
- Effective: Invisalign utilizes its proprietary SmartTrack® material, proven to gently and comfortably correct issues such as crossbites, teeth gaps, teeth crowding, and more.
- Comfortable and Discreet: Not only are Invisalign clear aligners comfortable to wear, but they’re nearly invisible. Most people won’t even realize you’re wearing them, and they can be great for adults that feel self-conscious about treatment or would like to maintain a more professional appearance.
- Convenient: While this treatment does require you to regularly wear and switch out your aligners, being able to take them off to brush your teeth and eat is convenient and allows you to go through your daily routine as normal. Additionally, they require fewer visits to our office, making them ideal for patients with busy schedules.
